Olive leaf Extract is usually made by drying and powdering the leaves, then making an infusion and concentrating the extract. The most active compound in the extract is called oleuropein, a bitter monoterpene glycoside. Dr. Morton Walker, DPM and professional medical journalist, lists 126 pathological microbes which olive leaf acts against-many which are notoriously antibiotic resistant. Some of these diseases include Chkamydia, E. Coli, Giardia, Influenza, Lyme Disease, Meningitis (both viral and bacteria), pneumonia, Shingles, Shigella (a form of dysentery) and Vaginitis. Bacteria which have shown susceptibility include staphylococcus aureus, Escheruchia coli, and salmonella typhinurium. Olive leaf extract (oleuropei) is thus a natural wide-spectrum antibiotic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal compound.
How Does Olive Leaf Work?
By-
1. Interfering with the pathogen's amino acid properties. This prevents the pathogen from reproducing and creating more microbes in the body.
2. Preventing virus shedding, the messenger by which viruses reproduce.
3. Directly stimulating phagocytosis, an immune system response in which cells ingest micro-organisms and foreign matter.

GRAPEFRUIT-SEED EXTRACT
Grapefruit-seed extract is a broad based antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial according to David Williams DC
JOURNAL OF ALTERNATIVE AND COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE
The Effectiveness of Processed Grapefruit-Seed Extract as an Antibacterial Agent: II. Mechanism of Action and In Vitro Toxicity
June 2002, Vol. 8, No. 3:333-340.
John Heggers, Phd. Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Graduate School, University of Texas Medical branch, Galveston, Tx.-Lead Researcher
Objective: recent testimonials report grapefruit-seed extract or GSE (Citricidal) to be effective against more than 800 bacterial and viral strains, 100 strains of fungus, and a large number of single and multicelled parasites. This study investigated GSE for antibacterial activity at varying time intervals and concentration levels and tissue toxicity at varying concentrations in an effort to determine if a concentration existed that was both microbicidal and in what period of time.
Conclusions: The initial data shows GSE to have antimicrobial properties against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive organisms at dilutions found to be safe. With the aid of scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), the mechanism of GSE,s antibacterial activity was revealed. It was evident that GSE disrupts the bacterial membrane and liberates the cytoplasmic contents within 15 minutes after contact even at more dilute concentrations.
USNEA LICHEN
Usnea Lichen is derived from a moss and is in the same family as penicillin. According to Christopher Hobbs, well known herbalist and OMD (Oriental Medical Doctor) it is far more effective for respiratory infections than penicillin, including tuberculosis. He has written a booklet on Usnea Lichen which has studies that prove this.
THUJA
Thuja has been used internally and externally to combat moles, warts, and skin tags. My own experience with Thuja has been good.
HERPES SIMPLEX
Licorice root contains 6 to 14 per cent glycyrrhizin, the major active component, which in the body is cleaved to form glycyrrhizinic acid. Glycyrrhizin inhibits viral activity.
Topical glycyrrhizin and glycyrrhetinic acid and their derivatives have been show to reduce the healing time associated with cold sores and genital herpes.

OREGANO
According to Rhonda Zoltan MD, Msc oregano contains cavracol and thymol which in concentrations as low as 1/50,000 can have significant antiviral, antibacterial, and antiparasitic properties.
Case History- About 7 years ago a family member returned from Mexico, vomiting profusely. I gave her a potentized Oregano (several tablets). The vomiting stopped immediately. She had been sick for many weeks. It took her a few days to recover her strength.
Dr. Cass Ingram is considered to be one of the world's top experts on Oregano-
"Oil of oregano's antiseptic powers are immense. Nothing else in nature can match it. Single-handedly, it can kill and/or block the growth of virtually any fungus. It destroys viruses and parasites. Furthermore, it inhibits the growth of as well as destroys the majority of bacteria, something that prescription drugs often fail to accomplish. According to the latest research (2001) it even destroys super-germs, that is the ones that are antibiotic resistant. Plus, there is no evidence of bacterial resistance, a property unheard of in today's pharmaceuticals.." The Cure is in the Cupboard-Dr. Cass Ingram
MANNOSE AND CRANBERRY
Mannose is a polysaccharide recommended by Jonathan Wright MD to bladder and urinary tract infections. It is used by the King's County department of health for this purpose. (Washington State). Cranberry extract (sugar free is also effective for this purpos). (The sugar in cranberries negates much of its positive effects for infection control).
LARIX
Larix is produced from the western larch tree. The major component of Larix is a long, branched polysaccharide, arabinogalactan.
Uses for Larix (From Promo by National Eclectic Institute)
1. Recurrent Otis Media
2. Asthma
3.Candidas
4.Allergies
5. As an antibiotic
6.Colds and Flu
SAMBUCOL
Sambucol is a liquid extract of elderberry developed by the Israeli Air Force for its pilots who were prone to the flu. They found it effective and it is used as a standard natural medicine by them.

A standardized elderberry extract, Sambucol (SAM), reduced hemagglutination and inhibited replication of human influenza viruses type A/Shangdong 9/93 (H3N2), A/Beijing 32/92 (H3N2), A/Texas 36/91 (H1N1), A/Singapore 6/86(H1N1), type B/Panama 45/90, B/Yamagata 16/88, B/Ann Arbor 1/86, and of animal strains from Northern Europe swine and turkeys, A/Sw/Ger 2/81, A/Tur/Ger 3/91and A/Sw/Ger 8533/91 in Madin-Darby canine kidney cells. A placebo-controlled, double blind study was carried out on a group of individuals living in an agricultural community (kibbutz) during an outbreak of influenza B/Panama in 1993. Fever, feeling of improvement, and complete cure were recorded during 6 days. ... A significant improvement in the symptoms, including fever, was seen in 93.3% of the cases in the SAM-treated group within 2 days, whereas in the control group91.7% of the patients showed improvement within 6 days. A complete cure was achieved within 2 to 3 days in nearly 90% of the SAM-treated group and within at least 6 days in the placebo group. No satisfactory medication to cure influenza type a and B is available. Considering the efficacy of the extract in vivo and on all strains of the influenza virus tested, the clinical results, its low cost, and absence of side-effects, this preparation could offer a possibility for the safe treatment of influenza A and B.
MALARIA-Artemisia Annua
ARTICLE: "Artemisinin: An Endoperoxidic Anti malarial from Artemesia Annua L.," Ziffer, H., et al, Progress in Chemsitry of Organic Natural Products, 1997;72:121-214.
Summary: Artemisia annua has been used for thousands of years in China More than 270 million people suffer from malaria each year and 2 to 3 million die. The majority of deaths are children under 5 years of age who are especially sensitive because of their lack of immunity to disease. Malaria is caused by the protozoa plasmodium vivax, malariae, ovale and falciparum. Artemisinin was effective against drug resistant-strains of plasmodium falciparum. Artemisia may work by its effect on changing the mitochondria. In animal models marked swelling of the mitochondria and parasites was noted. There are changes resulting in electron-dense regions of chromatin in the nuclei. Other studies have noted that carbon-centered radicals are responsible for the antimalarial activity of artemisinin.
VIRAL INFECTIONS:
ARTICLE REVIEW: In HIV/AIDS viral replication was slowed and immunity enhance by 20-30 grams of whey daily which increases glutathione production and NAC which does the same thing.
VIRAL INFECTIONS:
"Essential Fatty Acids, Immunity and Viral Infections, Horrobin D.F., BCh, Journal of Nutrtional Medicine, 1990;1:145-151.
Summary: This is a review article on the role of essential fatty acids (EFAs) in viral syndromes. EFAs are neede to enable interferon to exert its antiviral effects. Viral infections cause EFA abnormalities. The author reviews a placebo controlled study in post viral syndrome where a concentrated source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids was utilized. After three months and a normalization of EFA levels, 85% of the patients on the combined fish oil/GLA/DGLA product reported clinical improvement. Only 17% of those on placebo rated themselves better. symptoms improved were fatigue, mylalias and depression. Cofactors in essential fatty acid metabolism include magnesium, biotin, pyridoxine, nictonic acid, iron, zinc and ascorbic acid. Viral infections appear to block the conversion of linoleic to gamma-linoleic acid.
